New teachers should aspire to join Madera Unified due to our commitment to mentorship, ample collaboration opportunities, and fostering an incredible cultural environment, all geared towards supporting their professional growth and success.
Mentorship
Teacher Support Mentors (TSM) provide expertise and support for beginning teachers to build instructional capacity and effectiveness. All new teachers working toward a clear credential will have a Teacher Support Mentor (TSM) work alongside them, dedicating 3-5 hours per week to cover a range of instructional areas including curriculum development, classroom management, data analysis, and navigating school culture and expectations. Additionally, our TSMs organize targeted professional development sessions specifically designed to address the needs of new teachers. Madera Unified is committed to guiding new teachers through every step of their journey, from meeting credential requirements to earning their Professional Clear Credential. Our ultimate goal is to lead beginning teachers through continuous cycles of improvement, empowering them to grow and excel in their teaching practice. With the TSM program, beginning teachers are not just starting a job, they are embarking on a journey of growing into exceptional educators.
